Harden out. Are the Jays in?

The best Canadian pitcher in Major League Baseball is Rich Harden of Victoria. And we won't see him tonight. Harden will miss his start against the Jays because of a sore back. That's too bad because he's something else.

Harden: 1-0, 15 k's, 0.82 ERA in 2008

The good news: not having to face Harden gives the Jays a better chance to win.

Now, here we have a situation where the Jays must prove they're worthy of contenderhood. Three games against the A's, two of them must be won, a trio of victories would be perfect.

If the Jays stink out the joint, call it a wasted opportunity. If they grab two of three or a sweep, call it another step. A step towards something better than what we've had in Toronto for a long time.

Its early, yes. But there's never a bad time to win. Unless you're the Leafs.
