Norman James Sports: CFL = Can't Find the Love

Norman James Sports: CFL = Can't Find the Love

Other points:

Aesthetically the CFL is an ugly league. The ad littered fields aren't pleasant to look at. The Stadia, fields themselves are in desperate need of some updating or better yet, a wrecking ball.

I'd love to see more players flow through the pipeline between the Canadian University game and the CFL. And I might actually buy a ticket to watch a homegrown quarterback strut his stuff for say, the Tiger Cats. Supposedly the QB's we produce here don't have strong enough arms to play here. That's fair. So what can be done about it? Because I'd much rather see a Josh Sacobie running a CFL offence than what's his name? You know, the 49'ers castoff out of Middle Tennessee state? Ummm, yeah.

  1. I'm a big fan of the CFL, but you're absolutely right on the CIS/CFL pipeline. It's improving, but more could still be done. Hopefully, Jesse Lumsden will be just the first of many Canadian tailbacks; I'd love to see the likes of Jamall Lee and Mike Giffin get a shot. Quarterback is the final frontier, but there are now guys in the CIS who would certainly be worthy of a look if the CFL could get over its bias against Canadian QBs. Michael Faulds and Benoit Groulx would be excellent candidates, as well as perhaps Dan Brannagan.
