News today CTV is shutting down stations in Windsor and Wingham. Their licenses will not be renewed at the expiry period in August, but the doors could essentially shut for good at any time. We're on pins and needles.
Its unreal. Just sliced, and pushed off the edge of the table.
What really troubles me is that television's governing body doesn't seem to care. We have no protection. And I mean WE the people working in this dying industry and those who consume it.
With blood from coast to coast on its hands the CRTC is watching an industry, a craft, a way of life die.
This, from the 'comments' section in the Windsor Star:
" Write the CRTC and protest their decision to hobble local TV stations by denying them the same compensation specialty channels get from cable providers. This is HORRIBLE news for Windsor. An important local voice is being silenced. They delivered a better product than the CBC. We are now at the mercy of the government propaganda mill. Jim Crichton is simply the best anchor Windsor has ever had."
