Yeah, another severe letdown involving Canadian Sport. I love and support our baseball players, but they blew it tonight. A 6-2 loss to Italy? Its real and this one's gonna hurt...a long time.
It was awful. Disappointing. Sickening.
Sure, Italy is an absolute baseball power and our boys had no business being on the same field...and yes, once again we played the part of loser.
It could've, should've been better.
WBC2, in Toronto, Canada's best group (although not quite what it could've been), an amazing opener vs the USA, it had the makings of something special. Canadian baseball was ready to go to another level. And another level it went. A descent. From the main floor to the basement.
Monday's defeat, setback is one I hope our crew doesn't forget. We are capable of being a great baseball nation. Its our ability to get the job done that leaves us wanting more, wanting something better, over and over. How Canadian.
- Matt Stairs 0-for-3, 3 lob
- 8 Canadian runners left on base
- Vince Perkins 2 IP, 3 H, 4 BB, 2 ER
