Leafs avoid Gilroy ploy

Oh well.

The Leafs could've missed out, but they may also have dodged a bullet.

I don't like the idea of a collegiate player, or any for that matter, telling his prospective club that he's a must NHL'er. Anyway, Gilroy gets $3.5 mill from the Blueshirts and a ticket to their big show next fall. Give his agent props.

Time will tell if the Rangers made the right call, and of course investment in this kid.

I'm still excited about Tyler Bozak's future with the Leafs. Just gotta feelin'. As for future signings.. the high-prized Swedish goalie will most likely end up in Toronto. And if that turns out to be the case you'd have to admit the Leafs have done well in collecting young talent this Spring...and shit, the draft and free-agent season haven't even arrived yet.

  1. i think you're right about Bozak. he's a couple years younger than Gilroy, and probably has more upside/potential. also, due to the logjam on defence, as opposed to our lack of quality forward prospects, Bozak will likely get more ice time with the Buds than Gilroy would have. here's hoping he developes into a definate top 6 guy.

    now bring on the Monster!
