It never ends

Another year, another NBA draft, another player questioned on whether he's "okay" with making millions in what's still perceived south of the border as the arctic. Wonder if Demar Derozan is "oh shitting" himself in his posh NYC hotel room over the idea of an NBA career in the Great White? I'll give the kid (apparently with mad hops) credit. He didn't exactly pout his way across the stage like others have (Oh, Steve Francis, you whinny piece of shit. Nice career BTW). While I'd like to think winning might help how the American basketball world views Toronto, I doubt it ever will.

It's been what, 15 years? And still, some players aren't sure if hip hop even exists here while some agents still advise against trips North, convinced half their clients' wages are destined for socialism. I shouldn't lay it all on the mis-informed. I also blame the mis-informers like the American basketball media, especially the pudits who polute the airwaves with apathy towards any franchise not named the Celtics, Lakers, Bulls, Knicks and I guess the Cavs now too.

The NBA could do a better job at shedding a more constant and positive light on what's going in Toronto. It's a place that needs the support because even after all these years its still considered a league out post. Being the lone operation of 30 located in another country will give you that reputation. Geez, it's almost enough to ask: what's the point?

It never ends

Bottom line: there must be something wrong with playing the game you love, making ridiculous coin in one of the freshest cities in North America. Just something, we in this far off foreign land will never understand, eh?
