Saying thanks

I had only met the late Bob Gage once. Once in a lifetime perhaps. He was "the man" when it came to covering amateur athletics in London, a man us 'boys' still in the business today aspire to emulate. It's not easy to do. His impact on the industry, community is deep, meaningful, ever-lasting. The guy meant so much to the sports scene in London it honours his name with more awards than the Queen. Fat chance a guy like myself ever touches the masses in the same wonderful way Mr. Gage did, but chances are someone else will, one day. And that's a good thing. It's what I believe an individual like Mr. Gage was about; the dreams and goals of others, not so much his own. It's a great way to be, like our late great friend.

So long and thank you

Bob Gage was an amateur sports reporter for the London Free Press over dozens of years and thousands of life-changing stories. Following complications from a broken hip he passed away at London's University Hospital Sunday morning. He was 89.
