And so the story of the little squad that could continues...with a 1-nil triumph over the Devs at Turf Moor.
So, Burnley, recently promoted, downs the giants, the champions of Manchester. Or former giants, champs?
As we attempt to follow the ascent of one squad, perhaps we're about to witness the demise of another. The crumbling of an empire?
This version of the squad is nowhere near as dynamic as the one that lined up a summer ago. And it's no surprise. United's off-season moves hardly strike fear in the hearts of it's opponents, while personnel losses have strengthened that good ol' resentful resolve of it's doubters. Teves crosses the line, Ronaldo leaves for Spain and Michael Owen's still without a goal? C'mon.
All this said, that crest accounts for something. Always has. Always will?
Huge respect to Burnley. Honeymoon's don't last. Hard work does. Will they settle somewhere in the middle? I'll be watching.
