You heard it here first, right here at njs.com that the 2011 Brier would be contested in London. Friday night on "The Hook" local curling boss, Peter Inch confirmed it. They're still working out ticket package details, but I hope they do themselves a favour and keep'em priced right. JLC isn't as large as previous host venues, so to recoup that cash lost to lower ticket sales perhaps the ticket prices go higher? I expect they'll be smart about it. At any rate, it's good to finally have an event of this magnitude bound for London.
Ted Baker, OHL VP dropped in to explain the OHL's new rules. Divers get 2 instead of 12. If you're of age, you're eligible for the draft without having to be on the "list". The rookie rule is convoluted, but appropriate. Let's just say you can't have a beard, have kids or walk with a cane and win OHL rookie of the year. It's high time that changed. Check the league's website for details.
We also spoke with Mustangs' linebacker, Conor Elliot. He's an OUA player of the week ready to wreck some havoc on the Lancers Saturday evening in Windsor. It's Windsor's homecoming, but I think it'll be Western who's coming home with the better part of the game.
On Saturday's radio show... UWO's Andy Watson. Maybe more. Tune in. Call in. Stick around. Peace.
