Two games, three points

The Leafs deserved a better fate Wednesday in Dallas. They played hard, up to and beyond their capabilities limited as they may be. And the limitations are plenty, like a wobbly defence paced by a confused Mike Komisarek, an anemic offence, Alexei Ponikarovsky, missing rookie forwards, but hey at least those limitations no longer reach into that beleaguered Leafs' net. Jonas Gustavsson is now the man. He's been that this week, will be this weekend, next weekend, the one after that and continuing on and on over the rest of the season. The guy is "the one". It's clear. Not sure? Just watch him play. Check your local highlights. He's what the Leafs have been looking for. He's the f***in' monster! I'm excited because we've been waiting for this. It, he, is finally here. At long last the Leafs have their goalie, what they need now is their finisher. Word is he's coming too, hopefully within the next couple of weeks because hey, the clock's a tickin' on the season, if you know what I mean. Sure, there are other issues to address, but the arrival of Phil Kessel means a better chance to not only compete, but win night in and night out. For now, it's up to Gustavsson and the patch work of whatever Ron Wilson can cobble together to hold down the fort. If they do, somehow, Kessel can help start to build something again. Meantime, three points in the past two games ain't that bad. Three more over the next two and we're onto something.
