I'm proud of the Leafs effort against the Caps. In a season of hurt, this was a feel good moment. The Leafs deserve it, and holy shit...so do we.
(Love that image after Nik Hagman's shootout goal, the team celebrating with their helmet's spun around!! These guys need something to go right, a few things to go right...for a while. Saturday's triumph is great, but more is up to them.)
Two things:
The Leafs need to FINISH! They're creating the chances of the a playoff contender. They're missing like a Junior D franchise might. Something's gotta give. Or at least connect?
As well, with winnable games on the horizon the Leafs must produce...points. Early week games have never gone well for this team, but to reverse the trend, they must REVERSE THE TREND. A win over the Islanders on Monday would go a long way to propelling this team to within a fighting chance of better than what's been happening lately. This IS God's team, right? So God help it.
I've got a feeling...lack of on-ice support or not, Phil the Thrill is about to go off. I'm predicting number 81 scores 30 plus this season. He's got what, 5 at the moment? And there's a long way to go yet. I think we're about to be thrilled!
And hey, God bless the Leafs' fan support. They, like we, find pleasure in pain. But they, and we, would have it no other way. The Leafs are life. We've dealt with it. We continue to deal with it.
