Liambas take

Thinkin' about the Michael Liambas punishment...I'm not sure he deserved a season long suspension, but I'm not exactly clear either on where a suspension in this case should cease? This was a vivid, graphic, gruesome display of hockey at it's worst: a check to a guy with his back turned causing his head, face first, to slam with brutal force into the end boards...and all in front of a packed house in one of Junior hockey's most important and influential centres. The poor kid didn't just need an ambulance. He needed to be choppered to a place where they could tend to him properly. That my friends, is a can't-ignore type situation. How could David Branch not make an example out of a career penalty taker like Liambas? Man, a split second decision to finish an unnecessary check has ended one career, and quite possibly another. Seriously though, all the best to both young men...Ben Fanelli and Liambas. I'm hoping Fanelli recovers completely and returns to hockey. I'm hoping Fanelli comes to terms with what happened, learns, adapts, and doesn't allow the moment he wishes he could take back to ruin the rest of his moments. You can bet he feels like the worse piece of shit on the planet tonight. Hard to find too many sympathizers though, when the guy he put in the hospital isn't doing so hot himself.
