Not sure how much of an impact Mr. Kessel makes in his debut, but I feel this team should 'will' itself to a much needed victory Tuesday night. The expectation is that the Leafs produce a dud in their return home, as they have on several occasions in the past coming off decent road trips. So, that's what's expected. But aside from losing games heartbreakingly late, have the Leafs done anything we've expected them to this season? About the only certainty this fall is that things probably won't go according to plan for the Buds. In that regard, hope for more of the same against the Lightning.
While the Leafs aren't winning, they are producing stories, developments, possibilities that stir up considerable interest. Of course, I'm wondering just how good Jonas Gustavsson can be? The guy is obviously special, and I think he's got a couple of head-shakers in store for us. Could tonight be one of those nights? And Tomas Kaberle? How many points can he rack up from the blueline while heading up the NHL's top powerplay unit? It's another reason to watch, cheer and hope. Yes, Phil Kessel is the guy an entire nation is not only watching, but pinning it's hopes amd dreams on. I'm not sure he's up to that challenge yet, but he may be at some point soon. Again, an intriguing possibility that keeps me coming back for more. Let's not forget we're also witnessing players like Mike Komisarek, John Mitchell and Mikhail Grabovski transform into solid and valued Maple Leafs. It's happening game by game. So far, loss by loss. Who knows though, maybe win by win. Maybe even starting tonight?
