Are there any plans to do a comprehensive piece on drugs in university sport, in light of the shit-storm in Waterloo?
The UW firestorm would be a great opportunity to address performance enhancing drugs in society, both in athletics and beyond. I could see a piece that deals with universities; a talk with Greg and Blake Marshall, Quigley, Tinsdale, and Faulds.
Then, a piece that focuses on PEDs in hockey; one that expands on the old, tired adage that bulk isn't advantageous to hockey players. Newsflash: explosive strength, using plyometric techniques, is useful and sought out in all sports, including hockey. A talk with the Hunters and sports doctors would bring this message home.
Finally, a visit to local community and commercial gyms is needed. Talk to trainers, gym owners/managers and social scientists to flesh out the societal underpinnings of PEDs.
Man, this is a juicy topic and is certainly a worth endeavour. Your piece would get beyond the old myths of muscle development that are still very prevalent in much of today’s media.
Cute pic, congrats.
