K, it was a win

Too bad losing won't shut Habs' fans up, even temporarily. Yeah, we know guys, the Canadiens are glorious. The Leafs are scrubs, but hey, still winners opening night.

I'm pleased with the score, obviously, but not exactly pleased with how it was achieved. It could have, should have been 3-0 if not for some poor defending. Overall, the blueline wasn't pretty. Gunnarsson (frightened), Schenn (slow), Komisarek (slow, clunky), Beauchemin (charitable).. none impressed. Actually, all took turns as liabilities over the evening. I thought the captain and the former alternate were solid. Thankfully.

Up front... no real complaints. Encouraged by the speed, niftiness and potential.

Giguere... our sincere gratitude for your understanding of the moment. You were terrific. But that's to be expected.

Oh, can anyone explain to me WTF was going on with that pregame ceremony? Johnny Bower looked lost out there. He's a legend. He shouldn't be left hanging like that.

Ottawa next. More room to grow. More things to work on. More possibilities to be realized.
