Canada will not own the podium in Vancouver.
But share a part of it? Yes... indeed.
Let's see... ice dance, two from curling, women's hockey. That's at least 4 more pieces of Olympic hardware that SHOULD be coming our way. In the end, what 13 to 16 medals in total? Not sure when and where the rest of them will be won, and I'm not trying to belabor what really is a low number (based on early expectation), I just want to get a sense of where we'll sit. Hey, there's an Olympic medal count for a reason. So, how about a top 5? Definitely, a maybe.
As of 9:23 pm
US - 24
Ger - 21
Nor - 14
Rus - 10
Can - 9
Now that we've realized the games, for Canada anyway, are about what we can get. As we get on in the weeks, months and years to come I hope the national unity that's been on display the past week remains, even after the Olympic flame is out. If there's anything that'll make Vancouver a success, it's a stronger Canada. It's happening right now. Cross your fingers it's real.

this and that
Too bad about Canada's loss to the US in men's hockey. We should have seen it coming. Team Canada just doesn't look that good. Even on paper.
Anyway, I'd take drama over dominance. And that's what we're getting. Unless heartbreak happens first?
As well, I'd surrender hockey gold for a lot of Canadian medals. Unfortunately, it appears we're on the verge of neither.
What we're lacking in hardware it seems we're making up for in National pride, unity, etc. Hey, one more week of caring about each other is fine by me. Because come March our two week coast-to-coast love-in will long be forgotten.
