Support hockey not hooey
People talk about Toronto's lack of love for the Toronto Marlies. They say Toronto isn't a true hockey town because it doesn't support sub-NHL hockey. Well, let me steal a line from Wayne Gretzky at the 2002 Winter Olympics: 'that's a crock of crap'. People don't show up to Marlies games because there's nothing at Ricoh Centre worth watching. Think about it? We keep harping on Leafs fans for blindly and foolishly showing up to games that usually result in disappointment. We wonder why they'd pay good money to subject themselves to nonsense? OK, that's a question we'll never fully discover the answer to but the point is fans shouldn't have to support a loser AT ANY LEVEL. Its a choice (See Leafs ticket buyers). Its not an obligation. Look, when the Leafs finally enter "rebuild mode" and need a place to store their extra usable parts, then minor league hockey in Toronto will finally mean something. Then people will make the effort. Then it'll be worth it. No doubt Brian Burke is already working on the blueprint.
