...the image of a hobbled, hurting Michael Faulds coming out for one final toss on his illustrious university football career. It went incomplete. But that moment, the attempt, the possibility capped off just about as complete a body of work as we'll ever have the pleasure of witnessing in the Canadian university game. Complete with many well deserved accolades and truly magical memories. That final act, perhaps the most complete of them all. Completely touching, inspiring, amazing and never to be forgotten.
Now here's to the Hec for one Heck of a player.
The Gaels' offensive line won that game. Mustangs' blunders lost it. That early pick, that safety, and Wheeler's rare miss all contributing to a much, much longer bus ride home. But folks, it's the sick beauty of football and sports: someone's heart must be broken.
I thought the exact same thing. Faulds last walk on to the field will be a story that is told over and over again in Mustang lore.
ReplyDeleteMichael Faulds is a class act.
ReplyDeleteHis final game is definitely one to remember. Best wishes to him.
As a Queen's student at the game, I was deeply impressed by Fauld's leadership in taking that one final snap. You could tell he was frustrated and wanted to get back into the game earlier.
ReplyDeleteHuge credit the the Mustangs for a well fought game, one that was a nail bitter right to the end.
Stangs-Gaels YC09 was an absolute classic. The rivalry will live on beyond the Faulds and Brannagan eras. Best of luck to Queen's in attempting to take down Laval. Imagine the spoils of spoiling that homecoming???
