Impact

Whoever Brian Burke lures to Toronto through free agency must have an impact on the club immediately. Look what Dion Phaneuf brought. JS Giguere. Even Phil Kessel. All flawed, but collectively a force forward for a perennially backwards moving franchise. A few more of this type of player and the Leafs will be knocking at the door. Hey, the "sand paper" guys are great, but the top flighter are what this bottom feeder must have, now. Take the Kris Versteeg move that was made just before I hit send on this. Versteeg is a cup winner, Calder nominee and a back-to-back 20 goal man. And it's just a start for BB.

Stalberg, DiDomenico, Paradis go to Chicago for Versteeg.

One of the reasons I'm losing touch with NBA basketball is because the Toronto Raptors always seem to lose touch with their best players. While it would be easy to suggest Chris Bosh is just another ignorant American craving a return home, I'll bet he'd be sticking around if the club were actually a winner.

So what's the point then?

The Raptors certainly won't win without those impact players. They didn't exactly win with them either. Shit, the Raps are screwed.
