Watching Toronto FC blow another game.
Show two down.
Amazing how we crammed so many guests into what feels like, and turns out to be, such a short period of time. An hour and a half? We need 3 or 4!!
Kicking things off, a guy who knows his Blue Jays. Yes, we finally got Sam Cosentino on the program. The "man in the stands" during most Jays TV broadcasts joined us from a cottage on the Ontario/Quebec border. We missed him Friday because he couldn't get a cell phone signal where he is. He eventually got to a land line and we worked it out for Saturday. It was worth the trouble. Sam thinks it's win in 2010 or say goodbye Roy Halladay. I agree with him. But I'm not so sure the Jays will ever win again. That's a scary thought.
Richard Sykes joined us from North Carolina. He runs NC State's men's golf team and was witness to one of the best seasons ever produced by a collegiate golfer, that of Bright's Grove's Matt Hill. Hill won the NCAA men's title. Richard is a golf coaches hall of famer in the United States.
We continued gushing over the Ontario Men's Amateur champ as well as former Ontario Jr. Amateur champ, London's Mitch Sutton with RCGA Team Canada head coach, Henry Brunton. Henry's a golf instructor, administrator, writer, award winner. It was an honour having him on.
He'll be leading Hill and co. into the Four Nations Cup (Australia, New Zealand and Japan) starting Monday in Quebec.
Our good friends at Pension Plan Puppets were represented by Julian Sanchez. Interesting to hear just how far his site has come along in such a short time. Congrats on everything, PPP. You're a terrific venue for Leaf and hockey fans to congregate.
In the final minutes we wished the wonderful Bob Martin a happy 70th birthday. Bob's a treasure in London, and a pretty darn good golfer too.
Time for me to enjoy the rest of the long weekend. But really, I can't wait until next week's shows. The planning will commence shortly.
The Hook with Norman James - Friday's at 8:00 pm, Saturday's at 5:30 pm on AM980
